The Anti-Apartheid Movement began in Austria in 1977 as a result of the Soweto uprisings. They organized boycotts within Austria, as well as put pressure on the Austrian government to take a stance against apartheid. They also published the book \u0093The Apartheid Connection\u0094 in 1984. It details the results of the Austrians work with the South African governments. The AAM in Austria also supported the anti-apartheid movement in Namibia. The Austrian AAM disbanded in 1993 and now operates under the SADOCC, Southern Africa Documentation and Cooperation Centre. SADOCC has monthly meetings in Vienna, at which political questions are addressed, as well as social and historical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
