After the earthquake in Armenia in 1988 the Austrian Red Cross immediately formed a 42-person search and rescue team. They also made potable water and medicine available to the population of an entire area. They went on to build kindergartens and homes for the disabled.\n<br><br>\nThe Austrian Red Cross has many means of operating, including educational programs, blood drives, training and teaching services in first aid, as well as humanitarian efforts and disaster relief. Their disaster relief teams are all trained emergency responders. Since its founding they have saved the lives of thousands in areas riddled with war and natural disasters.
