Association of Autonomous Austrian Women's Shelters (AÖF) (Austria)

The Association of Autonomous Austrian Women's Shelters (AÖF), which serves as an umbrella organization for 16 autonomous women's shelters in Austria, was founded in 1988 and is still an information hub, support, service and representation for all members. The AÖF association is a member of WAVE - Women Against Violence Europe, a European network against violence against women, which was based in the AÖF association for over 20 years and has been its own association since 2014. AÖF is also the core of five important pillars of violence prevention: the information center against violence, the women's helpline against violence 0800 222 555, the online counseling "HelpChat - Stop the Violence", the StoP project - neighborhoods without partner violence and the BAKHTI center for EmPOWERment for girls* and young women*, which will open in 2023, with additional offers for boys*. Through all these offers and tireless public relations and political persuasion aimed at raising awareness, the association offers protection not only for women, but also for their children.
