The Fondation pour une entraide intellectuelle Européenne was founded in 1986 in Paris. The foundation’s activities include holding conferences and lectures, creating exhibits, as well as publishing books and newspapers. They also give out scholarships and finance the trips of scientists.

Providing aid and material support for scientists, who worked in Eastern Europe, Spain and Portugal under authoritarian regimes, was the focus of the foundation’s efforts.

The Fondation pour une entraide intellectuelle Européenne was dissolved in September 1991 at a general meeting in Krakow. They were awarded the Bruno Kreisky Prize for their support of scientists and intellectuals in Eastern Europe.
