Israel Labor Union “Histadrut” (Israel)

The Histadrut, or General Federation of Workers in Israel (GFWI), was founded in Jerusalem in 1934. The fundamental tenet of the organization is to act in the service of all workers, regardless of political views or affiliation with political parties. Furthermore, Histadrut sees itself as a professional association with the aim of creating better working conditions and acting as a mediator between employees and employers and thus protecting the rights of employees. Histadrut also includes a network of kindergartens, as well as a national youth movement and a settlement called Sela.
