Al-Haq

Al-Haq ist eine unabhängige, palästinensische Menschenrechtsorganisation mit Sitz in Ramallah (Westjordanland). Die Nichtregierungsorganisation wurde 1979 zum Schutz und zum Einsatz für die Menschenrechte sowie Rechtsstaatlichkeit in den palästinensischen Autonomiegebieten gegründet. Al-Haq verfügt über einen Konsultationsstatus im Wirtschafts- und Sozialrat der Vereinten Nationen. Al-Haq hat es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, individuelle wie auch kollektive an Palästinenserinnen und Palästinensern begangene Menschenrechtsverletzungen in den palästinensischen Autonomiegebieten, unabhängig von der Herkunft der Täter, zu dokumentieren und sich mittels Vernetzung auf nationaler und internationaler Ebene für ein Ende dieser Menschenrechtsverletzungen einzusetzen sowie die Täter zur Rechenschaft zu ziehen. Al-Haq wurde bereits u.a. mit dem Fayez A. Sayegh Memorial Award, dem Rothko Chapel Award for Commitment to Truth and Freedom, dem Preis der Carter-Menil Human Rights Foundation oder auch dem Menschenrechtspreis der Französischen Republik ausgezeichnet. Die Organisation Al-Haq betrachtet den Bruno Kreisky Preis für Verdienste um die Menschenrechte als eine Würdigung ihrer Arbeit und als Zeichen der Solidarität insbesondere in Anbetracht der kürzlich erfolgten Angriffe auf die palästinensische Zivilgesellschaft und Menschenrechtsorganisationen. Al-Haq nimmt den Preis zum Anlass, sich weiterhin für die Rechte von Palästinenserinnen und Palästinenser einzusetzen und Menschenrechtsverletzungen zu dokumentieren.

Al-Haq (English)

Al-Haq is an independent Palestinian non-governmental human rights organisation based in Ramallah, West Bank. Established in 1979 to protect and promote human rights and the rule of law in the OPT, it has special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council. Al-Haq documents violations of the individual and collective rights of Palestinians in the OPT, irrespective of the identity of the perpetrator, and seeks to end such breaches by way of advocacy before national and international mechanisms and by holding the violators accountable. The selection of Al-Haq by Bruno Kreisky Foundation for Human Rights to receive the award for 2022, is recognized by Al-Haq as an expression of solidarity, especially in light of the latest unprecedented attacks on Palestinian civil society and human rights organizations, and a contribution to the enhancement of shared human rights values globally. In light of the award, Al-Haq affirms to continue its determined fight for achieving the rights of the Palestinian people, documenting human rights violations, and to bring to an end Israel’s prolonged occupation. For its outstanding work, Al-Haq had previously been awarded the Fayez A. Sayegh Memorial Award, the Rothko Chapel Award for Commitment to Truth and Freedom, The Carter-Menil Human Rights Foundation Prize and the Human Rights Prize of the French Republic.
