CARE (Austria)

CARE was the largest private, international help organization in the world at the time of the Prize Ceremony. It was operating in forty developing countries and had over 300 projects. The worldwide undertakings of CARE were enabled by eleven autonomous member organizations. In 1989 they raised over 4 million Austrian Schillings from private donations and international organizations.

CARE Austria was founded in May of 1986, out of appreciation to CARE international for their help in the time period after the Second World War. Today CARE Austria is a part of the international aid organization and helps underprivileged people worldwide. http://www.care.at
