Sozialdienst Flughafen Schwechat / Airport Social Service (Austria)

The organization “Airport Social Service” is conglomerate of human rights, refugee, and foreigner organizations. Founded to help refugees who arrive at the Schwechat airport in Vienna, the organization was officially founded on the 8th of March 1989. ?The organization helps refugees to understand their rights in Austria, travel to other countries, seek asylum, and provides moral support in general. The Service helps to avoid misunderstandings, and create a better climate for discourse.

At first they also try to find accommodation for those refugees who are not taken under state care. Since then The Social Service at the airport has increased its scope. They currently also offer medical assistance, hygiene articles, clothes, and toys to the refugees. They work closely with the UNCHR and other aid organizations.
